Have a 84 CJ7 , 360 auto. My oil pan gasket is leaking. Is it much work to install a new gasket? Looking underneath, it looks like the starter would have to come off. Is that correct?
It is not much work, I dont remember having to take my starter off but if you do its 2 bolts. Have you looked to see if the rear main seal is leaking? Its more difficult but if you are already there its worth while to fix it to as its probably just as old

I just did my AMC 304 using this write up. 79 CJ5 304 rear main seal repair - JeepForum.com I had never done one before and it was a piece of cake. I pulled my starter as well as had the pan get hung up on the motor mount.
