More to follow....
I really want to go OME for my lift. I had one on my Land Rover and LOVED IT.
That said - the kits are ridiculously expensive...but...I found this doing an internet search (it's dated):
"Here in Norway, the OME springs is *the* springs to use ...
However, we don't use a YJ "kit".
We just buys 4 OME "heavy-duty" *rear* springs, and uses them on all 4 corners (no front springs).
JKS has a special front shackle hanger, which moves the front shackle 1" forward. We use 2 sets of CJ rear shackles.
U-bolt plates: rear's is bolt on, up front, you will need to weld the holes shut, then drill new ones, since the wrangler spring is .5" wider. The CJ7 front U-bolt plate is wide enough to handle this.
The ride is very good, and we have had no sagging (yet).
I have done this swap on 3 CJ7 's, 2 with V8's & 1 with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ".
We get about 2.5 to 3" of lift, will handle perhaps a 32", but 33" is no-go (at least if you let it flex all out..)
But with a 1" body lift, a "small" 33" (like BFG) will fit."
What do think? Is there something to this?
The springs would be approx $400. The JKS shackle hanger is $115. Plus u-bolts, etc...it's still got to be WAY less expensive than the $1000 OME kit...
Ideas/Input/Recommendations?
Thanks!
Cheers,
