First things first, thanks to everyone that helped me with what seemed like my endless amount of just simple silly questions. Everything is finally back together again. I got my throttle linkage bracket fabricated and installed today. I got it on the road today too. But, I still have a few lingering little things I could use some help with.

1. I think I have an exhaust leak, I can hear it ticking, but I can't seem to track it down, any suggestions where to start?

2. I'm not sure that I've got the new carb tuned up correctly. When I first started it earlier, it was running really rich, and actually backfired a few times. So, I leaned out the mix quite a bit, but it still doesn't seem to be running correctly. It stutters and is awefulf sluggish right of the go in any gear.

3. It's gurgalling, link a dirt track car, when I let off the gas. Is that just because of the flowmaster 40, and the much lower backpressure?

Okay. I just got back from taking her for a little 5 mile ride. I would like to revise one of my previous statements, she runs like caca. It's trying to cut out and die. I thought I had the idle set at 750, but I let off the gas and it tries to die, and it's backfiring worse now than when I "leaned" out the carb. I think I need help.

I know nothing about the carb and intake swap you did but I do know about normal carburation.

The gurgle sound you hear when you slow down with the Jeep in gear is normal with a very free flowing exhaust.

Just wait a while and look for a black scorched mark for your exhaust leak, you can spend a bit of time really listening... Looking for the black mark is easier...

The idle or low RPM parts of 'most' carbs are completely separate from the mid to high RPM parts. Meaning, the idle adjustments have no effect on part throttle cruising.

If it was as rich as you say it was, did you foul the plugs?

That's a good question CJ. I may have fouled a plug. I'll have to check those in the morning. The exhaust, would it just be easier to have it welded?

Are you sure it's a metal leak in the exhaust? I would just drive it a while until I see exactly where it's leaking from...

Maybe the manifold gasket hasn't seated in yet? I got you. Okay, I'll give it some time, so long as you help find me some help getting this carb straightened out
