So I took the hub and rotor off my 78 CJ5 and it looks like this:

My local shop says no way they can fix that. So I need new hubs and rotors. My 78 has the one piece hub and rotor assembly and the 6 bolt steering knuckle and caliper connection. I think I can get a replacement from the same shop for about $66. Its been hard to find a place online that can meet that, but it looks like I found a set on 4wheelparts that is a 2 piece hub and rotor for about the same price, a little less actually. My service manual of course says that they are a one piece assembly. Has anyone used the 2 piece on a 78? Would there be any problems? As far as I can tell this would be a good replacement part set.

Here's the link for the part:

I've replaced just the disks. You press out the studs. And whack the disk, heating with a torch and after a while bingo. :D

That hub and rotor looks like a fair deal if you need hubs too. I'd go for just the rotors.

I ran 78 6 bolt calipers for years on my 73. Best single improvement ever for a drum equipped Jeep.

So with heat and persuasion you can separate the hubs from the rotor and reuse the hub?

Thanks for the advice. Turns out no heat was necessary. Once the studs were tapped out the hubs came right off the rotor.

People like to sell parts. Not repair things. :D
