this is a GM Cadillac Eldorado rear disk brake caliper. does anyone know of a way to open it about .075". I don't want to turn the rotors. This is for the rear wheel disk project on the Dana 44 .

On a lot of those calipers you have to have a special tool to turn the piston in. Check your local auto parts store. They should have some thing. Maybe KD brand.

.075 isn't much, could you just machine that much off the side away from the piston?

IO what rotors are you using? How do they mount?

OK I got it.:D

this is a problem because none of us has ever worked on a disk brakes with an E-brake!! The e-brake ratchets out as you use up the puck.

they sent them to me just a tad bit too close so I had to remove the e-brake arm and wind it back and compress the piston with a clamp.

anyway the calipers are from an 85 Eldorado and I am betting the rotors are as well but they have been redrilled for a 5 on 5.5 or they were made from blank castings.

these are from the streetrod manufacturing co. and hopefully they are in business as long as I need rotors.:D:D I plan on taking good care of these.

Use caution with this style of caliper. Using a clamp to compress the piston can damage the internals. You have to thread in the piston. I learned that the hard way.
