Hello all, I have been trying to find the factory correct shift knob for my ‘79 Jeep CJ7 T-18 . Does anyone have one that they know is original and could post a picture? Also the prior years with the different reverse pattern if you have those as well. The issue is that there were a couple different fonts/spacing of the shift pattern engravenment for Jeep, Ford, Dodge and GM that had reverse over to the right and down and would like to verify which one was correct for the Jeep CJ’s. (Just to avoid making the thread longer then it needs to be, please don’t post anything in regards to aftermarket or custom shift knobs please) Thanks everyone.

Although this is a ford it's the same as a CJ79

Earlier CJ T-18 had reverse over and up.
If need be I can take a photo when I get home of mine.

That’s a good example. See how the spacing is different between the two knobs? What I have been trying to determine is which style was used on jeeps. The tighter shorter line spacing on your top picture or the wider spacing with the dimple in the center on your second picture. Those seem to be the only two styles I have seen but have yet to determine which ones were true to jeep models. Thank you very much so far!

The ford shift knob is the same as the 79 CJ T-18 knob
The 78 CJ T-18 and down knob were different
I own a 77 and 79 CJ T-18

I was at NAPA a few weeks ago and they carry the correctly shaped knobs like those old bake light shifter knobs in their help me section..... I love to look of the old school shifter knobs

I have a T18a in my Jeep Pickup. Reverse is up and all the way to the right.

Actual shift knob is unmarked, otherwise I'd have a photo below!
