Weather was great, a couple showers/light hail but other than that fantastic week. Great group of guys as well.

Have the dates been set for 2018 run yet?
I ask, as my wife has to put in for time off(vacation)ASAP, because the earliest requests are considered first, in the outfit she works for.
We will 'camp' in Silverton. What do folks suggest for campground sites?

Silverton has a good campground right at the "north" fork of town that leads into the mountain range - looked like good RV spots, not sure about tent or cabin rentals there...

Passed by there a few times during the week, looked nice and honestly you don't spend a lot of time in camp anyways... lol

There is also a couple more "nature like" camp grounds along the south fork mineral creek just west of town (about 10 min to 15 min including the dirt road) We seen them on the way up to the awesome clear lake we visited later in the week this year...

First is Anvil Campground. Then there are a few more on the way back into the trail towards the Clear Lake trail head... follow the south fork mineral creek (more like nice small river) on google maps to see some more of them.

Google "camping silverton, co" and look on the maps. Follow the 550 west out of silverton and you'dd see the fork to the left off 550 to Anvil Campground, and keep sliding west from there.

Next year the trail rides will most likely be the 2nd or 3rd weeks of August again. July is much more crowded and is the rainiest month.
I hope you can make it Lumpy.

I've never stayed at Silver Summit RV park but I have stayed at Red Mountain cabins in Silverton. They also have RV sites.

I've really been debating whether to have Silverton or Ouray as the base camp next year. It seemed we were often driving to Silverton to hit the trails.
Silverton has the best trails (although Ouray has a couple of famous trails such as Imogene).
On the other hand Ouray has a much better selection of motels and restaurants. With a larger group maybe Ouray will be the best option but I'm open to suggestions.

I'm thinking our trail rides next year will be Aug. 20th - 24th. I am also wondering if we should use Silverton as our base. I won't start a thread announcing next year's trail ride until I'm more sure.
People get confused if I make an announcement and then have to change it.
