Its taken a bit of work but have combined bumper outboard mounts in an atempt to reduce frame flex and camouflage the outboard mounts a bit still in primer here before sanding and painting

The use the three holes for the current spring mounts and the 2 holes on the side of the frame for bumper mount so should be plenty of mounting strength and all holes are drilled and tapped with nuts welded behind them so lots of thread contact but easy to get to

Think I will add a small hoop over the top to finish off the bumper and the only real downside is this adds a fair bit of weight but already have a lot of weight in cross member and skid plates so not too concerned

You link to attachments in a forum - they may have shown up for you before but the link may have changed.

You need to link to either the actual image url or attach them here.

This is what you linked to.

Thats a cool set up. The nice thing is you can reverse this back some day if you need to because you didn't weld into the frame.

Thanks Kane that was definitely one of my design criteria, along with stiffening the front chassis and making it look fairly discrete

I like them :notworthy:
But I would still weld them up...that's a lot of shear force on the bolts you are going to use...and the welds can be ground off if you plan something else in the future.

Well it has taken me many more months than expected like most projects life gets in the way

anyway here is a before photo (the highmount winch is sitting there as part of a mock up for yet another project)

Rear mounts are also welded onto frame in addition to the bolts and crush tubes

Axle ended up being a hybrid Dana 44 from a cherokee/wagoneer and CJ knuckles hubs spindles brakes etc and using scout shafts

What does "outboarding" mean? I think my front springs are the same as yours.

moves the mounts from directly under the frame to a wider point to enable use of full size axles:chug:

Incorporating a shackle reversal

Nice Job :chug:

I didnt want shackle reverse and all the kits for sale seemed to be shackle reverse so I took a few of the best design ideas added a few of mine and added a factor of over engineering and its done

Are these mounts just welded plates? The shackle mount looks like tube, but I can't determine how you made the frame mount part.
Anyways, great looking pieces, and I am planning to steal the design for my build! :notworthy:

The spring hanger itself is a pre fab job I got from a local Jeep parts supplier not sure which brand they are but think they might be MORE

They are welded on to a large bit of angle that forms the bottom surface and the inside chassis surface

The rest is 6mm plate the 3 bolt holes that run through the chassis have nuts welded to the plate, then it is gusseted over the top and down the front and back surfaces welded up and dressed back with a flap wheel
