Hey guys i got a 67 CJ5 , runs great drives great just one problem, no parking brake. PO took all the guts out of the rear drums and all i had left was the handle on the inside and a lever that was rusted out on the bottom (which i cut off in fear of it getting tangled in the drive shaft.
Now I keep hearing stuff about mircro lock. Is this better then a e-brake?
if not what would be another option besides buying up all the components to the e-brake?

thanks guys
:chug:

Mile. A 67 never had e brakes in the rear drums, it was on teh back of the Tcase working on the rear drive shaft.
putting all the original brake stuff in is not hard and it works surprising well, you can but it all from herm the Overdrive guy for kinda cheap,

another alternative and works better is to get the brakes from a later jeep and set them up, this will involve a bit of custom fabbing but you will be getting bigger brakes than those pesky 9 inch ones that come stock on a 67. If you do get bigger ones for the rear do the fronts also so that you do not spin the jeep.
When I redid the entire brake system on my 67 I put disc in the front and 12 inch brakes in the rear, I simply pit new shoes in the tcase mounted e brakw system. I trust it that much.
