SOA will definitely have some interesting u joint angles in a CJ5 , you might look into doing a CV joint in the driveshaft to help on the angles Tom Woods says about 15 degrees click on the CJ icon on left side of screen and he has good info on how to measure and what it should look like :chug: Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts - Tom Woods Custom Drive Shafts Custom Driveshafts Specialist and some tech from his site Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts - Slopes VS Angles

That's an answer that you will know long before I would.........I assume your cutting off your old spring hangers on your axles and changing the location from bottom to top.........so without knowing anything about your combination.........you would be the best judge of that........set your axles in and rotate the housings till they please your combination and weld them on.

Your Steering will also need some attention.

Yeah, ive heard between 12 and 15. Gonna start the job saturday. Gonna take your advice though Tarry and rotate it until it looks right. Then gotta reweld the perches and put back together. Got new shackles too so thats gonna make a difference also. Steering and brakes after this is done.

Grab one of the cheap magnetic protractors from Harbor freight/hardware store and stick it to drive shaft/yoke/and Transfer Case to tell you what you ended up with on angles

An SOA on a CJ5 will have a steep angle, especially on the rear. As Gert said you need a CV (double cardan) joint. To install a CV joint the rear pinion must point at the output of the rear output on the Transfer Case to avoid vibration.

The u-joint on the diff should not be angled (Maybe only 1°)
The CV joint should have all the angle.

Make sure you account for cargo, driver, and passenger body weight before setting the pinion angle.
