96 Cherokee Sport, 4.0 HO, 3.5" lift, AFE CAI, SYE & 2Low transfer case conversions, double cardan drive shaft from a Grand Cherokee.
80 CJ7, 304 w/Edlebrock carb, Dana 300 TC, SR4 transmission, 4" spring lift up front, shackle lift on the rear. Hooker headers and Flowmaster exhaust. Hard top. Full cage. My new project.
My pitman arm is striking the tie rod and the steering stabilizer bracket. The arm is approximately 6 inches from the center of the PS box stud to the center of the rod end stud. Hopefully the pics uploaded.

Ooops! The question is does anyone have experience with this problem. Did the PO put a Truck sized steering box in?

you may be correct or the pitman is too long?

It's definitely too long. The only reason I can think of is that it may have come fronm a full sized truck. If somebody knows whether or not a jeep sized one will fit on the PS box shaft it'll help me to decide on just a new pitman or the whole box.:poke:

My pitman arm had slight contact with the tierod.....after I installed 4 Inch springs. It's because it moves the axle slightly forward from the stock position...bringing the tierod closer to the steering linkage. ;)

I saw on M.O.R.E. Off Road that they have a steering bracket that moves the gearbox forward to eliminate contact with the pitman arm and the tie rod. Maybe something like that would help you.

Thank you guys. I'm going to look up the M.O.R.E. site for that bracket as mine is stock anyway.:)

Exactly.......

It is more common than you'd think on lifted Jeeps 4"+.

I have fixed a few of them over the years.
