1979 Jeep CJ5 with 304 V8, T18 Transmission, Dana 20 Transfer case with TeraLow 3:1 gears, 4.88 axle gears, Detroit Locker up front and Ox Locker in back with 1 piece axle shafts, 36" SuperSwamper SX Tires, Shackle reversal, MileMarker Hydraulic winch, MSD 6A ignition.
It's time to start planning our 10th Jeep-CJ Trail Ride.

The trail rides will be from Sunday August 8th to the 12th.

This year we'll be using Silverton as our home base.

We plan on going over Black Bear Pass in the reverse direction on Sunday August 8th for anyone interested. Normally Black Bear Pass is one way going into Telluride. I am working on getting the permits approved for us to start in Telluride and go toward the west. This ride for Sunday is optional. It's especially nice for those of us that are used to going the normal direction.
The problem with the Sunday ride over Black Bear Pass in the reverse direction is we must leave Telluride at 7:00 am. Since our base will be in Silverton you may want to stay in or near Telluride Saturday night. As I said this Sunday ride will be optional. Also the permits to run Black Bear in the reverse direction will not be approved until late spring. I will post updates here.

Posi will be assisting me as one of the trail leaders.

Here are some of the trails we'll be going on:

Hi Dave! Awesome! I can't make it this year, but will love reading the reports and seeing the photos!

Cheers!

Sounds great but I'm probably still a year or 2 out before I can really be committed to going.

Interesting logistics problem for the Sunday Black Bear ride.
For me towing, I think I would stay in Ouray and drive highway around to Telluride.
Easier to join up with my tow vehicle at end of ride.

Agreed. For those towing it’s absolutely the best.

I went a couple years ago' The views were amazing and a great bunch of guys and gals. Wish I could afford to go every year. Going to have to save up my pennies so I can go again.

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Dave (BusaDave9) for giving me, and others, a great opportunity to explore southwest Colorado.

Seven years ago I attended my first trail ride with Dave. I live 2300 miles from Ouray and I wasn't able to get my CJ out there or have the opportunity to rent a Jeep at that time. However, I was offered a passenger seat with 007, and Bass/Oldjeeplady and took the opportunity to go.

Two years later Bill D and Carol gave me the opportunely to continue wheeling out west with their kindness and offerings that continues to this day.

I have wheeled over 30 trails in Colorado and another 18 in Utah since I went on my first trail run with Dave. I'm not sure if others fully realize the great opportunity Dave is offering. The best advise I could give you is......stop thinking and talking about it and just do it!

Thanks Dave, and others, its much appreciated!!

Looking forward to seeing the gang in Moab in 49 days, and again this August in Ouray.

Yeah I hear what you are saying Posi. Life is very short sometimes

One thing to remember Is that if your Jeep isn’t ready, you can rent or you can get a hold of someone who’s going and grab a seat - it’s worth it...

I rode with Busa and Shooby! Great time! I was lucky enough to stay at Busa's and we had a great supper down town.

Carol and I WILL be there if the Lord is willing. We already have our reservations made and I’m pretty sure that at least one of my Jeeps will be in good enough shape to make it. (Thanks to Posi!)

Thanks for the kind words Posi and thanks to you for all your help with these trail rides.
I'm looking forward to seeing you, Bill Shooby and the rest of you. It'll be a good time.

I'll 2nd Posi's kind words. 2019 was my "Just Do It" year and scraped together a trip to Telluride, amazing views and way different wheeling than what I do on the east coast. Could not be a better group of people getting together many thanks to Dave and everyone who made my dad and I feel welcome.

Still dream about going back, definitely next year!
