It's that time of the year again to plan and announce this years Jeep-CJ trail ride in south-western Colorado.
This year we'll use Ouray Colorado as our base.
The trail rides will be from August 5th to the 9th.
Sunday August 4th at 6:30 we'll meet at O'Briens Pub at 726 Main St in Ouray
A typical day of trail rides: We eat breakfast at 8 am. Some motels have some sort of breakfast otherwise join us at a restaurant to be decided the night before.
We leave town at 9 am. Make sure your tank is already filled the night before.
Every day seems to be sunny and warm in town. As we climb into the mountains it gets cool. Bring layers and a rain jacket. It often rains in the afternoon.
We eat lunch on the trail. It's nice to bring a small cooler to carry a sandwich and water. If you don't have a small cooler several members often have a cooler larger than necessary. They are always willing to keep your lunch fresh.
Where to stay? Here are some options:
Quality Inn - Many of us stay here. Good rooms at a good price.
Expect to pay $167 per night or more.

Box Canyon Lodge

I don't want to commit us to these specific trails but here are our tentative plans.
Monday: Yankee Boy Basin and Governor Basin
Tue: Engineer Pass
Wed: Black Bear and Imogene passes
Thur: Poughkeepsie Gulch
Fri: Corkscrew Pass

Here's some pictures form previous years:
Some of the pictures may look pretty challenging but there are always bypasses or a completely alternate trail ride for the day. I don't want anyone to feel intimidated. I encourage beginners to join us. You won't regret it.
