I have a small Pomeranian. She loves car trips. Any ideas on a safe way for her to enjoy a top down jeep ride? Her size is what scares me, she only weighs 10 pounds, I just cannot figure out a restraint system. Thanks!

I've always attatched the leash to the top roll bar.....give enough slack so the dog can lay down....but not jump out...has worked fine for years!

Also I'd suggest using a "harness" as opposed to a collar so just incase the dog is able to get it's body out of the tub it does not hang itself LOL

Harness for sure! That is a good idea, I'm just worried about the turns, her falling out the sides. I'm thinking also, take the leash and put it through the spot where the seat meets the back and tying her off. Thanks for the great idea!

there was once a product, and for all I know it's still being sold lol....at lowes or home depot....it had a velcro closure and a huge carabiner clip...was marked to hold up to 300 pounds....would wrap the velcro part around the roll bar...attatch a chain (because you have links you can decide how short or long to make it) and attatch a clip to the chain (lightweight in your case) to the dogs harness.....From what I've found on TJ's and my CJ5 ...if you give enough length from the roll bar to about an inch or three from the floor...gives perfect ammount of length for a dog to lay down....sit...and check out stuff on the sides of the jeep, without enough length to actually jump out or harm themselves........

they came in a set of 3 .... I think they were made for hanging tools or whatever...the velcro strap was about 2-3" wide if I remember correctly


They also work perfect when you get two jeeps parked the correct distance from each other....attatch one to each jeeps roll bar...then add hammock and enjoy......

Kennel was my thinking as well, and weighted down or secured some way.
Our lab prefers to be in his kennel and sleeps there every night and travels in it.

She has a small cage that she loves, may take the deck cover off and let her chill back there. I am a little dog lover, they are just too small and fragile! I might do a test run with me holding the leash. Thanks all, I'd love to find those straps! Anyone finds em, let me know!!!

Dogs in jeep...what a grand endeavor. A crate or kennel (a wire crate allows better visibility, but man those things rattle) would be easiest, and I'd secure it with a ratchet strap or bungees. A harness with 2 leashes would also work, something that keeps the doggie from jumping out one way or the other and hanging. They also make a harness that attaches to the seat belt (at Petsmart, online, ...), but I never do things the easy way.
