Getting a popping noise when I turn the wheel which seems to be coming from the front end components. I think this is comon. What is it? Ball joints maybe:confused: Does it more when im off road.

Had a similar issue and it turned out to be the steering box bolts was loose, that
and the mounts the rods connect to. Seems the PO didn't TQ them down during
the lift kit install. I TQ'd them down and the pop went away.

Crawl under the jeep and have someone turn the wheel back and forth and see what
moves or pops.

Is this in 2wd and 4wd or just 4wd?

I had a popping that drove me crazy once, only happened when I turned left with the hubs locked. I swore up and down it was a axle ujoint or something similiar. It turned out to be the splines on the front slipyoke of all things

I had the same thing and had two problems. Bad ball joint and loose wheel bearing nuts. Jack it up and you will know for sure. Easiest fix it the wheel bearing nuts. They are only torqued to 50 lbs and manual suggest re tightening every so often anyway

My Uncle and I came across the same on both our CJ5 's. Power steering box stabilizer rod is what was wrong on mine (the weld had broke... Seen a nice one somewhere...) and tie rod end was messed up.

On my Uncles it was the leaf-springs popping / flexing in the shackles. We replaced the bushings seems to have fixed it...

Realise I'm Kind of late here, just in case still an issue... Like BrockGrimes said, have someone turn the wheels while your looking under there to figure out exactly the issue.

Cheers :chug:
