Okay so I'm modifying the CJ's "Sport Bar", it isn't a roll cage, but for coating purposes it would be much the same. Has anybody had their roll cage coated and how much did it cost?

It's a spray and bake deal for powder-coat.
I just used semi-flat black Krylon.:D
LG

LG - Been there and done that .... many times and there in lies the problem. I've had several motorcycle parts powder coated, but never anything this big. PCing is durable, but costly or impossible to touch up. Rattle can is easily touched up, but not durable at all.

I paid $250 to have the roll bar and cage ( 1 piece) powder coated gloss black in 2002. Still looks brand new today...'cuz I keep the shiny side up :D
I used a local place here that had a big oven to do overhead ski racks for boats.
I did for the very reasons you stated hedgehog....

I might add that for the rear portion of the bar, I have full size metal plates that cover the wheelwells. Lots more metal to coat.

Hey Hedgehog, it sounds like Hedgehog has all the answers for you... except the price. I had my headache rack powdercoated for $350. Do it right once and you won't have to redo it or retouch it.
It's expensive. My headache takes abuse. Logs and other cargo gets thrown against it. Hopefully your roll bar won't get abused.

I also paid $AMC 150 for the tow bar, draw bar, Transfer Case twin sticks, front bumper, tow bar brackets, license plate bracket etc etc
anything I didn't want to have to paint again...

Dave - yeah I've been there a few times, but only for the small stuff and the place I used is no longer in business. It's always a debate. If left for simple paint additions and changes are still possible. Once coated forget alterations and enjoy.

You probably know this, but out here in the west even a casual off road driver has to deal with desert pin striping. Powder coating holds up relatively well to the insults spikey vegetation can bring.

Hagar - I sounds like you are addicted to the stuff and frankly I can't blame you. Pricey but worth it.

My Dad loved chrome. When going by a chrome shop he used to say, "I should bring the old Harley in and tell them just to dip it. Sure the tires would look funny for a while but they will wear off." Easy guys, I know how chrome is applied. But along the same lines, I'd like to bring in the CJ and have the powder coaters dip the whole thing. :)

rattle cans are a problem to be sure. I use automotive paint for such things and it works and lasts quite well but at the price of paint and thinner and hardener and and and ... it may not be the easiest or most cost effective solution. You can, however match the color and touch it up when you modify something.:D
