Hi guys!

I have a few questions regarding my steering box if anyone can help:)

Truck is a 76 CJ5 with a Chevy 327...a little frankenstein...
Here's a few pictures of my steering box:

I know it's a Saginaw with inverted flare connections...but I'm not convinced that this is a CJ box...

Both lines are 3/8'' OD
Pressure line was connected to the front port(3/4) and return line was on 5/8'' port.

I ordered a rebuild kit and new steering shaft coupling and coupling does not fit, it's too big.

Last thing.. the top nut (requiring a spanner wrench) is a pita to remove... any idea were I can find a tool or something to help?

Thanks a lot:)

What coupler did you order? The manual and power have different size shafts. Do you have a link or part number you ordered and received?

:)How many bolts hold it two the frame?
with a 3/4" x 36 spline input shaft I'm thinking just 3?

If it had 4 bolts and a 13/16"x 36 spline it would be a Model #800..............looks like yours may be a Model#700

:D:D:D:D

My box has is an 800 on my CJ7 with 4 bolts and it has a 3/4 shaft. I just rebuilt mine and got that nut off with 2 punches that fit tight into the holes and put a bar between and spun it off. I got my rebuild kit from west Texas off road and they were very helpful to make sure I got the right kit and with all my questions.

My PS box is 3/4" shaft. I would say you have the wrong coupling. I would return it and give Morris a call. Have them measure their kits (they are a Crown kit) and get it from them ($37). You can use our site discount for 10% off = $33.30 and unless your in Fl you pay no tax. Or get a hold of the Amazon and see about getting another. I would also call Omix-Ada and ask them to verify the inter diam of the kit that should fit.

Well dang it! Just noticed your in Canada... Returning the item to Amazon and getting another from them may be your best choice.

You could also just use the internal parts if the coupling shell is not warn as the inside parts are the same for manual or power steering. Morris also sells just the internal kit -->> Lower Shaft Boot Kit Incl. Boot, Clips, And Bearings 8132676K for $11 if you want to return the other kit.

Thanks a lot CJ! I think I'll use the internal from my kit :)
