I've been searching for a AMC 304 pulley with no luck. Then I came across this ebay add for a new pulley that carries part number j3227674(which is what I found in the forum threads). But look at the numbers this guys provides for inside bore and offset. Doesn't seem right. 11/32 diameter shaft?? That's not even 3/8. And it sounds like he's measuring from the table to the center of the v-groove when I asked him for the offset from the back of the pulley to the bore face??

So your bore diameter is 11/32"? Supposedly, my pump assembly came of a Wagoneer. It's a double pulley, maybe that's why the shaft is 5/8? I'd be willing to buy a new pump if I can get some sort of combination to work. Can you locate a part number on your pump?
Mine looks like this, except I can't see a key on it.

Any idea what year Wagoneer? If it's that '72-74 year range that the ebay ad says that pulley fits, then it may be a different pump that the later models. Those year Jeeps used several different accessory setups that's don't interchange with the newer stuff. I don't know about the PS pumps specifically, but wouldn't be surprised if it was different.

What year is your AMC 304 ? Or do you have a picture of the front accessories? If you have a 76+ AMC 304 and are trying to add PS, then I would try to find a Waggy/Grand Waggy in the junkyard (the Grand Waggys are pretty easy to find around here) and grab the PS setup of that. Or if you already have the correct bracket and don't want to mess the JY, then you can buy that 2 groove pulley and a new pump. They were $50 or less last time I looked (for a reman'd).

One more thing...Do you already have a power steering gearbox? If so, what is the box from (yr & model)? For Saginaw pumps/boxes, anything '79 and older will have SAE flare fittings and anything '80 and newer will be metric o-ring fittings.

"Any idea what year Wagoneer?"
I don't remember which year wagoneer my PS setup came from. It was an ebay listing.

"What year is your AMC 304 ?"
I don't what year the engine is. It was a rebuild I ordered. From what I've read, you can tell by how many bolts are in the crank pulley. I can look when I get home.

"Or if you already have the correct bracket and don't want to mess the JY, then you can buy that 2 groove pulley and a new pump."
So I may need a different bracket for another style pump? A newer style PS mount bracket?

"One more thing...Do you already have a power steering gearbox?"
I went for the J10 gear box. I'll look at the connection at the pump when I get home. Just from memory, it looked like a brake line connection.

I had someone install the PS system. When I was talking to the guy, he said grab any unit off any AMC V8 and it would work. It seems now I just got lucky. They aren't all alike. Again, if I can buy a pump/pulley combination that will work with my bracket, that would be a great solution.

Post some pictures if you can of the pump, bracket, and also the whole accessory system if you can.

have you been using this power steering system at all, or were the components just installed? Why are you needing to change the pulley?

I don't know if you will need a different bracket or not. I'm really not sure exactly what you have right now.

The J10 gearbox is the same as the Waggy box of the same year.

For the most part, the AMC V8 stuff was all the same from about 77/78 on. There were a few different changes, especially from 72 to ~75/76, especially with the accessory brackets. I found this out when I bought an a/c compressor bracket off of ebay. I looked just like the one I needed, but was just different enough that it wouldn't work with my '78 engine. The newer stuff is far more abundant, and easy to find though.

I'll take some pics this evening. I've been running the PS for a few years and the pulley just wore to the point it was wobbling and cutting a groove in the bracket. I ruined it taking it off because I thought I could just take it to the parts store for a match. Yea, I know about the pulley tool, but like I said....hind sight is 20/20.

Edit: I found this on Team Grand Wagoneer's web site. This is the pump I have, so I'm thinking my power steering pump/pulley/bracket came off a 72-74 wagoneer. The other pump they list for newer models is press on and no nut. Again, if a different pump and pulley will work with my bracket, that would be great.
