Hey all, finally getting around to installing a reman PS gear in my 1980 CJ7 . The problem is I forgot which port is the pressure port. :)
Port "A" or Port "B" Thanks

The forward hole as it is installed = B is pressure.

Wouldn't you think they would mark them?

Also, the return on mine did not take a rubber seal. I tried to put one on it, but it just got chewed up when I tightened it.

I seem to remember reading that they are different sized fittings also, but I didn't try to find out.

For what it is worth, I had to put a thicker grommet under my grill to make enough room so the return line would not rub. I went from manual to power.

The ports should be different sizes. You can only put it together the correct way.

There is no need for any rubber washer, or 0-ring if you have the earlier version. The older versions require flare hoses. Its important that you get the same year as what you had, or at least the same "version" so you dont have to modify the ends with adapters. (to convert from flare to 0-ring, or vise versa) That was what I was explaining in the other thread when I suggested buying a reman unit... If you have the later version, then you need o-rings.

I was actually driving last night and wondering if you had gotten it together yet.

good luck

I got it together today, been travelling for work too much in the last few weeks. Drives much better. Adjusted the idle and the timing and its good to go. Reminds me of when I was a kid...my Dad was a mechanic for Rambler, then AMC (then Chrysler)..he had a several jeeps including 1958 Willys sedan delivery that my Mom drove as her daily driver. We hunted all over Northern BC with it when I was a kid. I have 8mm movie pictures that my Dad took of that Willys fording rivers up to the headlights. We used to stop and take the fan belt off before crossing. I look at the speedo and it brings back memories...:)
