I recently got a new steering gear box (ARG) for power steering. The jeep did not have power steering in the past so i got a used power steering box/reservoir/brackets as well, but when i spoke with the guy i got it from he said i would also need to get a new pitman arm for it bc they are different for power steering gear boxes. Is this correct?

Also he said i might have to get a new connection for the steering column where it meets the gear box....is this correct as well? If so what is this part called?

Thanks in advance.:chug:

Both statements are correct.

PS gear boxs have larger input and output shafts, the shaft from the gear box to the columm is the intermediate steering shaft.
If you need PS drop pitman I can fix you up.

That would be great! im trying to get this thing put back together and finally drive it with no play!:chug:

Hi Polish85,,,
I'm gonna jump in on this with a question.....
I have a 79 CJ7 with PS and a ton of play in the wheel.
Is a worn out steering box usually the culprit?
Did your new gear box fix your play issues?

I am about to buy a used PS gear box and am wondering if it is just throwing good money away..
