1985 CJ-7. guess it has an 89 straight 6 with weber crab. Auto trans and transfer case (not sure what but stock [maybe 300 on the transfer]) open diffs. Hard top and doors
So, took the front end apart this weekend to install new Ball Joints. With a little , heat, blood, an some censored words I got it all apart.

Now when going to press the new Ball Joints in I found that the kit doesn't have cup the right size for the ball joint. I'm using XRF chassis part numbers K8194T & K8195T.

Does anyone know if there is a special adaptor for these? I'm going to stop by parts store today an see of the kit they rent has one that matches. Plus if I get time I my call XRF themselves.

Thanks
Scott

I assume you have a ball joint press ( Harbor Freight? Etc)..........and the parts within that kit are not the right size to press in the new joints?

If that is correct...........not uncommon for the installer to build a one-off pushing sleeve of sorts out of tubing or bar stock to make that happen in reverse......the kits just cover a few sizes.

Yup have press kit, its from snap-on, so I figured it would be good. But sol for me its not.

Thanks for the advice on making mine own

HF makes a kit, they say it's for 4x4 trucks, but it also works on the Dana 30 .
