How will the 4 inch pro comp lift ride on a CJ7 (compared to worn out factory stuff)? I keep talkin myself into different options, and then see something that changes my mind.

What do ya'll think the best 4 inch lift is for a cj? I saw the rubicon express 4.5 inch but by the time you get shocks and everything you are around $1600 and I'm not sure how much beter the ride quality will be. I just want to do this once.:(

I have the Pro Comp 4" springs on my CJ and would say they are pretty good for the money spent, but it is not much of a street rig. Would expect a whole lot more from the RE kit for that kind of money.

Yea, I would think that would be tough to make up in dollars when they are both still leafs. I would say all will come a little stiff until they break in anyway.

My procomp lift road very stiff but oddly enough it did very well off road for flex. I had rs9000 adjustable shocks as well but it was still pretty rough.

i have a pro comp 2.5" lift on mine. alittle rough but when i get time im going to pull the bottom leaf out and see what that does.

I have the Procomp 2.5 also, have not had it on the road yet but exspect decent road manners and it to ride like a jeep should...but not too tall and loose at highway speeds....with shocks, shims and hardware to the door was apx. 525.00.

I have a hybrid using earlier "made in Canada" Pro-Comp springs in the back and with YJ shackles it nets me about 4.5" of lift. The ride is stiffer than the Skyjacker lift I had on a previous Jeep but that was what I wanted because I run a SOA lift up front with Rancho 2.5" lift (rear CJ) springs up front and quick disconnect swaybar links that make the front end super soft and flexy when un-pinned. The stiffer rear Pro-Comp springs add to the stability of the Jeep and can carry great loads (like a week worth of camping gear & food) with no sag or squat in the rear. I like them but they aren't military wrap style so you can get better military wrap eyes on the more expensive or custom built springs if needed. My situation is unique with a spring-over up front on the Dana 44 axle and the SUA out back on the Ford 8.8 in back so I can't say they're for everyone FWIW.....

I have a 4in ProComp lift with 1in lift shackles.Ride is rough, fair road manners as long as all components in the steering are good, good off road and on back roads.

IMO all the 4" lift springs will ride rough. It's just the nature of that much arch thats built in. A flatter spring just rides better.

You'll have to pardon me since I'm new here and I don't yet know which way the wind blows in these parts, but why not a spring over? New perches, shocks, driveshafts, maybe some steering mods. Will net around 5" lift depending on the thickness of the leaf pack.

I know people complain of axle wrap on sprung over trucks, but that implies you have a whimpy leaf pack. And an anti wrap bar can cure that.

In my experience, a spring over is a lot more comfortable and has more flex than lift springs. The leafs are flatter and can flex both ways.
