I have a 84 CJ and am starting to work on my Jeep but need these questions answered. 1. I a lot of hoses that I don't know what they do. Also, there are four yellow spark plug looking things that have the hoses running through. However, I am running rich and rough but I think I have a vaccum leak but don't know where to start. 2. So, what are the only necessary hoses do I need to the carb and where do they go? 3. Lastly, If I want to upgrade to a V8 do I need to change anything. I have a T-5 Transmission , rear diff appears to be a Dana 20 , not sure if I have one or two piece axles.

You didn't say what engine you have. There's no info in your profile. I can tell you 2 things.
1. If you have a vacuum leak, you will usually idle fast and run lean, not rich.
2. If you have 2 piece axles, the rear axle will have a plastic cover under the center cap of the wheel. Under the cover will be a castle nut screwed onto the end of the axle stub.
Give some more info or include a pic of the spark plug things. I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

If you want to drop an AMC V8 (AMC 304 , 360, 401) in place of the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l you have (I am assuming everything is stock) you will need to relocate the passenger side motor mount. Generally you can reuse the existing one if careful. Other than that it is mostly a direct bolt in. Your existing clutch & bell housing will bolt right up.
