reading spark plugs

i bought some e3 plugs to put in the jeep cause i liked them in my accord. my ? is when i pulled the old autolite plugs (about a year old) they are black carbon and redish brown on the ground. does this mean im running to rich? i have a mc2100 carb and just put on a clifford intake and header. this combo has only been at idle.
