Is the rear end below an AMC20 ?

Also, in another post here, I mentioned that the axles were one -piece design. I have removed the retaining plate fasteners and cant get the axle to budge. What am I missing? thanks.

Sit the jeeps weight on the diff pumpkin, and not the spring pads. Then give the axle a yank with a chain.

Yes that's an AMC20 . With the retaining bolts removed, The only thing holding is friction. Sometimes it takes a little prying or a slide hammer to get them out.

Thanks guys. I came to that conclusion after removing everything else and not seeing anything holding it in. Started making a jig to attach three axle studs to my slide hammer...

LG, that sounds like a good idea, but already got it jacked up in the garage and not much room for whipping a chain around. :)

That's how us Hillbillies do it.
Just like cracking a whip.

I have no doubt that would work. We have similar techniques here in the Carolinas... :)
