Hey guys,

I have an 85 CJ7 Laredo I6 and I'm leaking at the rear end. I was just wondering what the rear torque specs are when I replace the gaskets and is friction modifier / Limited slip additive is required? Let me know. Thanks, have a great holiday weekend.

Dave

Where are you leaking from? Rear diff or axle seals? As far as traction additive it depends on if you have open diff or factory Trac lok

The factory manual says 20 ft# for diff cover bolts.

Here are some basic guidelines for fastener torque. Now things like soft joints, hard joints, static torque, dynamic torque, on and on can factor in, but here are the basic guidelines:

1/2 bolt = 78 ft#
7/16 bolt = 52 ft#
3/8 bolt = 35 ft#
5/16 bolt = 19 ft#
1/4 bolt = 9 ft#
