I am trying to finish installing a superlift 2.5” on my ‘80 ‘7. I am running into an issue with the rear shocks. After a call to superlift, I confirmed that the shock body must be mounted down.

The lower shock mount in the rear is welded to the axle tube and the shock body hits the axle tube. The spring plates look like someone cut the mount off of it.

So, what is the correct location of the lower shock mount? Ok the axle tube or on the spring plate?

If it should be on the plate, i should be able to just buy new spring plates with the correct shock mount and remove the one off the axle tube?

I will need to buy new ubolts as well since i torqued them down already.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

The oem location for the rear shocks is on the spring plates. I moved mine to the axle tubes as I kept breaking them going thru the rocks. It did require a shorter shock to make them fit though. I think the oem location is best between the two options. You should change the u-bolts after they have already been used.

Thanks for the reply. I will go ahead order new ubolts and spring plates.
