I have a 78' CJ-7 and am wanting to install a seatbelt for the rear seat. If one was installed orginally I don't see where it was connected at. Can someone tell me or show me a pic of where the rear seatbelt bolts in?

Also let me know a good place to purchase.

Thanks

The later CJs use the 7/16-20 holes for the seat belts, if that helps.

The two rear seats I've had the seat belts bolt to the seat frame. If nobody posts a pic by the time I get home from work tomorrow I will take one of mine and post it for you.

Ditto on the seat belt mounting to seat bracket.Mine is a '76 cj5 seat. Most auto parts stores have generic seat belts. If you want something a little nicer with a choice of colors I go to www. Juliano's.com Interior and HotRod supply. mike s.

mine also bolted to the metal flange on the seat and I bought the chinese replacements from my local 4wd shop they are already fadded completly out and full of mud <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f644.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt="" title="Roll eyes " data-smilie="11"data-shortname="" /> so when I get finished it will be getting another set from probably Quadratec or Morris

Thanks Guys. I'll take a look at the seat frame then and see if i can find where they attach?

On the ones that you've had, are there (2) belts for the back seat or just one big one that would stretch across both rear passangers at the same time?

If there are actually two different belt systems (one per passanger), does the "Button" portion slide in between the bottom cusion & back rest in the center?

Thanks

yes there are two complete belts for the passenger. the buckles came up between the cushions like most any bench seat.

Ok as promised pics and yes you should have two belts

After looking at the pictures that were sent in the above post, and then going out and looking at my jeep, I notice several differences. I remember the guy I bought the jeep from saying that the seats were originally out of a TJ. In looking at the pictures above, the seat frame on the model in my jeep does not have the center mounting bolt. My seat frame is bolted in all four corners and one in the middle but it's not on a frame. So based on that, can anyone show me how I could bolt in seat belts in my CJ with a TJ seat?

Below are pictures of my seat. As you can see there is no post or bracket to attach it to. At least that I can see.

All I can suggest is looking at a TJ to see how they mount the belts but if I was to guess I think they mount to the floor like the fronts. Maybe one of our members with a TJ will chime in here.

remember TJ's have a shoulder belt and i think a fold and tumble seat

Well I went out to the garage and checked out the rear seat area on my TJ and JR is correct about the shoulder harness. The seat the OP showed pics of might not be a TJ seat .Doesn't look right to me.I took mine out 7 years ago and put it in the attic so don't really know what it looks like. Probably
going to have to install seat belt mounting plates in the floor.Hardware is available at www.julianos.com or make something like it. There is some videos on seat belt mounts there also to help you do it correctly.
Hope that helps . mike s.

my yj's have threaded holes in the floor for the passenger seat belts to bolt to so I would imagine that a tj would be the same

HD, no holes in the floor on TJ .As you know the TJ was totally redesigned in 1997 and I don't know how many parts where carried over from the YJ.
The shoulder belts attach to side and rollbar and the center belt must be attached to seat bracket as I don't see any holes in floor for seat belts.UPDATE: There is one hole in the center of the floor area for a bracket that the belts mount to.

mike s.
