Another question related to my 76 with some recent damage to the frame...

My rear shackles sit just past 90 degrees angles back. Is that the typical geometry for the shackle, or is it supposed to angle out some toward the rear?

Attached is a pic of where the frame peeled down at the shackle mount. Want to make sure my geometry is correct and my setup isn't causing issues.

Thanks!5831e6eb31c49112e9dbd15a5eca454a.jpg

Wow that sucks! My shackles hang just about the same as yours. Looking closely at your pic looks like a crack started sometime ago (rust mark) then slowly worked around. The frame doesn't look to rusty inside though.

Frame is in really good shape with the exception of the crack. The guy I bought it from did a complete frame-off. He did a great job in most places, but cut corners in others. He fabricated the rear crossmember and did a crappy job.

You can just rotate the shackle mount 180 degrees, drill new holes and a shim for even contact. Then fix the crack and mount back the rear crossmember.
