I have a stock 1983 CJ7 that I am doing a frame up rebuild. This is the first time I have ever done a rebuild to this extreme, so some of this is pretty new to me and all of you have been a lot of help so far.

Last weekend I removed the shocks and the front shock mounts to the jeep. After removing the front shock mounts, I noticed that they were very rusted out and need to be replaced. This brought on a few questions that I had for all of you.

I was checking out a quadratech magazine to see what the cost of new shock mounts would cost, but they did not sell the mounts that look like mine. The only ones that I saw in the magazine we a lot smaller. They were the size of the rear mounts. They also looked like they needed to be welded on. Does anyone know where I can get the taller replacement shock mounts?

I also started looking into replacing the suspension and noticed in the magazine that most of the suspensions for sale were for wranglers. Is there any kind of conversion kit so that I can have more options for a new suspension or is there some other option that is recommended for upgrading the suspension on a 83 CJ7 ? I have never done any work to suspensions before, so this is a little new to me.

Here are some picture of the shock mounts. If you are having problems with the links, then you can check out my work at www.1983cj7.blogspot.com.

I'm not sure if anyone sells thoes or not. Alot of people replace the front towers with ford towers to get a couple extra inches of shock travel. Finding a used cj set might be your best and cheepest bet.

If your refuring to a yj (87-96) lift than yes there are kits to use the wider front leaf springs. If you mean the tj's (97-06)with coils, than no.

When you say Ford towers, what year Ford truck are you talking?
Thanks
