One issue my 7 had when I picked it up, was that it is missing the back window. The frame for the lift gate window is all there. Looking on-line did not work, as all I could find was the whole top for sell. So, I had my local glass shop order me a sheet of poly carbonate or Lexan. I order it in 1/8". Thought it would be less brittle to work with than acrylic or plexiglas. Less chance of shattering on road too. Ordered the window seal gasket also. My thought is to make a cardboard template and cut the window out with a fine blade with my jig saw. Smooth off the edges and use silicone to seal within the gasket. I'm sure this has been done before by some of you great craftsmen on this site. Any pointers or suggestions would be helpful. All in all I will only have about $100. into my new window. Thoughts?

Just wanted to give an update. I did order a piece of poly carbonate for my back window. Today I was taking off the lift gate frame to have the poly carbonate put in. The seal that was sent to me turned out to be the wrong one. well, ordered a new seal and thought I would try again to find the back window glass. And I did find the glass window used at Olympic 4x4 in Snohomish, WA.! They are even helping me get the window to Chelan, WA. So, in a couple of weeks I should have my Jeep sealed up for the winter weather.

Awesome! Way to stay with it. It is said that the back window assembly to a CJ7 hard top is the most valuable piece. Since it is made from metal and not fiberglass or plastic like the rest of the top, not many of them survive.

Thank's Peanut Butter. I feel blessed to be able to find the lift gate glass! And happy my lift gate frame was in good shape.

Don't ya just love it when a plan comes together???
