Required Electrical and Vacuum Lines?

Required Electrical and Vacuum Lines?

Hey Guy and Gals as the title states whats required to make this thing run? Im in the process of a frame off restoration on an 83 CJ8 it has a freshly rebuilt AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in it and I would like to keep it that way. To make the engine happier and simplify everything Ive opted to install a mc2100 along with a dui distributor. From my understanding I wouldnt need the ignition control module or coil since the dui just needs a 12v feed and a vacuum line from the carb. I also would like to delete the under dash emissions computer, since im using a 2100 carb its not needed either is it? The only feature I wish to keep is the electric choke and correct me if im wrong but thats not computer controled. With that said should I leave the egr in place, Ive heard mixed reviews on this some say delete and others say it helps the engine run cooler (which makes no sense to me).

Thanks for any help!

I wont touch on your electrical requirements since I'm not 100% up to speed on the DUI. But as far as vacuum, all you need is your vacuum advance from the carb to the dizzy, PCV to vacuum, CCV to the air cleaner. That's all there is ;)
I removed my EGR years ago when I de-smogged everything and never missed it.

That carb is not computer controlled, so it does not need the computer. I am assuming that in Ohio that a smog check is not required. From the research that I have done either distributor will work fine when set up properly, either a DUI or a Motorcraft with the Team Rush conversion. The DUI does have an icm but it is located in the cap. The choke in the CJ is not controlled by the computer. I use an egr as it is supposed to make the combustion chamber run cooler. Good luck with your restoration.

I also suggest the EGR be kept, it makes the idle better. But it is not essential.
