My 81 has the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a Vbelt set up. I was under the assumption that this is a normal rotation set up and the serpentine belt ones are reverse rotation. Is this correct? Need to tell Vicki which to order while I'm here at work. :D

You are correct sir...i don't think there are any exceptions. I got my Jeep on the cheap because the PO had a standard rotation fan on the jeep and blew the motor after driving it until it overheated and wouldn't start again. I didn't know until after I put the new motor in and had mysterious overheating problems lol...that took me 2 weeks to solve.

Subsequently I can offer you a cheap standard rotation heavy duty 7 blade if you're in need, the rivets are good but there's some surface rust around the bolt holes (just needs a little wire brush and some paint).

Good luck with the fan replacement...

I dont think there are any exceptions. A quick way to tell is if the water pump pulley is driven by the back (smooth side) of the belt it is reverse rotation. Grooved side is clock wise.

I am pretty sure that all vbelt setups are clockwise because the vbelt is too thin to run an accessory of the back side.

Exactly, not enough friction... :notworthy:

WP's come withOUT pulley.
Take your old pump with you to the parts house. Many times, I have seen the 2 different pumps mis-box'd/re-box'd buy the counter guys. They are supposed to have an "R" stamp'd on the reverse-rotation WP impeller, They don't always do---
