Hello everyone! I'm Tyler, I'm 23 years old from Utah. I bought a 1960 CJ5 from my boss. He seen it in the back of a strangers house while he was cutting hay one night. He made a trade with him and ended up with the Willys Jeep. He owned it about 2 years, unfortunately sat outside for that long in the weather.
I bugged him for a while to sell it to me and he finally broke! I'm excited to start my first build!!

Welcome to the nut house!! It looks very nice in the pics....... What are your plans for it?

very cool welcome aboard from Texas very nice looking Jeep

Very nice CJ5 . I picked up one for $500. It needs a new body tub, hood, fenders; the works.

Once the body is off I’ll go through the drivetrain, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, etc., and sandblast and paint the frame.

Can you guys let me know where you source parts from?

I’m also a big fan of Ebay and craigslist

eBay and Craigslist are things I look at. Am getting used to looking in Amazon too.

What type Jeep has been your project?

I also have a 88 Silverado I work on. I did a “bed off” (not cab) restoration but the grill, engine and entire drivetrain was removed so I had complete access.

Redid everything bottom side. Need to do interior - carpet, headliner, some dash stuff and front seats. Body needs new bed and paint and it will be OK. Not a show piece but still will be nice.

I’m probly not a good reference for what “should” be done LOL. I did a frame of “refurbishment “....... by the time I got it, it was a hodge lodge of stuff, and what the PO’s didn’t swap, I did, hence the name “Frankenjeep. I did an 80 CJ7 ....... if ya get real bored, hit this...

Wow!

Ive been away from working on my Jeep for a little while due to school and work. But I'm finally back in a position where I can work on it again! I just want to say thank you guys for the welcomes and I'm excited to get back to work.

My plans for "Rita" at the moment is to get it drivable/trustworthy to enjoy. It runs at the moment but the starting motor struggles to turn the engine over if I haven't started it in a while. The brakes aren't the greatest at the moment either. Cant decide or think of how to make those work better. (any ideas would be helpful) And I noticed last night that my Light's switch has a short in it. Thats my project for the winter for now. Just so when spring/summer comes around I can drive it around and get into the mountains!

After I finish everything above, I would like to reupholster the seats, find a better top cover, swap my signal lights back to where they originally were, and maybe turn it into a desert army looking jeep. I like the color it is at the moment and I think a army jeep would be cool to take to car shows and such. My dad has a few different cars/trucks/projects he is working on so it would be fun to sit next to him at car shows with my jeep and his toys as well.

Ill Keep posting pics when I complete something, for right now it pretty much looks the same!

Cool I look forward to watching your progress
