Swapping axle gears for mileageYou guys might not realize it, but lots of the mileage numbers we print are generated by driving around aimlessly for no other reason than accumulating mileage numbers. Needless to say, that can get boring pretty quickly. And it doesn’t do wonders for the ol’ expense account. So, this time around when faced with comparing the long-range effects axle gearing has on fuel economy, we decided to take it on the road. And what better way of testing this than driving 1,500 miles to our gear install shop, having them change out our 3.55s for 4.56s, and then driving 1,500 miles home? None, so we loaded up our new Alloy USA 4.56s, install components, and a pair of ARB Air Lockers and hit the road for T&T Customs in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
