So, does anyone have any tips for removing the bottom race in the Ross steering box. i can get a little movement trying to pry it out but not all the way. i have read a few threads and one talks about removing a clip but no clip on this one.

Well after another hour or so I got it out. I ended up taking some carriage bolts about 10" long or so and grinding 3 sides off leaving a small hook on the end. I was able to snake it in under the race and then use the steering wheel puller to pull it out.

The race, along with everything in the box was shot.

One problem is there is not much space under the race or between the race and the horn tube to get anything in there. It also has to be tapped through the upper hole as well but run some emery cloth around the edge first and it comes out easy.

New ones slid in easy, thankfully.

you could have popped the horn tube out and have easy access to the race. When installing the horn tube apply a little permatex on it.

Thanks, was worried about that leaking. I couldn't tell how it was held in place
