I install a RC 4" lift on my 80 CJ7 . I believe the front axle is a 77 or 78 though. I took it out for a quick drive to see how stiff it was going to ride. When I got back, i was looking at the springs and they had been hitting the tie rod and connecting rod. The end link grease fitting on the pitman side had been hitting as well. Any thoughts?

...any chance you can pop a picture of it on here?

The 4" lift rolls the axle abit forward, so the tie and drag link rods move closer to springs. A couple of choices are degree shims under the axle to move it back into the correct position or a tie rod flip. I chose the tie rod flip, it also moves the rods into a more parallel relation to combat bump steer.

I'm not a mechanic but I thought the end links were tapered. If not I'll try to put them on top. What does that do to the steering damper alignment? Do you have any pics. Bye the way how do you post pics on here?

The end links are tapered. You either need to get a tapered reamer or buy a kit to install.

As caveman said they are tapered so you will have to drill or ream the knuckle ends. I used the Goferit kit, but Rock Equipment has a reamer kit too.
