If anyone else in the area is heading up, see you on the trail tomorrow.

Pictures and Video to follow Monday!

Editing videos currently. Was a good trip. We stopped for about 2 hrs to help a family wheeling by themselves with a broken rear axle shaft in a TJ with D35 rear.

We had to take apart his hi-lift jack and use the body portion of the jack to hold the tire on. Ended up cutting empty cans to wrap the jack body with and duct taped them on. spread a bunch of assembly lube on the sidewall of the tires. This all allowed it to hold and yet not be grabbed by the side wall of the tire.

They got out a bit later with the help of another rig towing them a bit out of the bowl. (they drove away from us with front wheel drive)

But... I left my gopro on for that 2 hrs or so... so the rest of my video is a bit lacking. Hoping My uncle will have a bit more in his gopro he's going to bring in to me soon.

Did have a bit of an eventful trip up to the trail Friday night... My jeep kept making a popping sound and felt real shaky at 65 mph (more than normal). For some reason I decided to pull over in Placerville to check and noticed this...

So we got that fixed up after a few hours in Placerville. I'll get some finished product photos with the rest shortly.

Here's a nice teaser of one of the waterfalls:

I'll give you a hint - everything on that grill loved to hop! 😱

Thank goodness about the hopping, I was beginning to wonder if someone was missing their cat tonight..:)... (I've eaten enough rabbit to know a rabbit when I see one, never seen one prepared like that before, looks very tasty.)

Man, that's a big fellah in the middle. Never had em, heard they are great but being from Maine that sure looks weird - I showed my 6 year old and asked here what they were and she said...humans?? Good grief. With the peepers exploding here with spring I can hardly sleep - maybe the new popcorn shrimp of Maine????

 I'd never had rabbit before, and never cooked it either... I was looking at it like "um... guess I can just season and grill it..." ;)

The guy who brought it was no help on direction lol He'd already had a few by then...

Was pleased with how it turned out!

1 rabbit
3 frogs

Posi got it. 1 and 3. The frogs weren't quite done there... I was continuing to lose brain cells at that point... :booze: Picture taking decreased as intoxication increased... :D

Still working on those videos. Have to edit out a bit of un-intentional recording.... ;)

Getting back to the trip report there JR, just how did the rest of your adventure go? It is not uncommon to find someone with a broken rig on a trail like the Rubicon and working on someone elses rig is a lot more fun than fixing yours. Towing a rig with a broken semi-float axle can be quite a challenge, I am sure you well know that by now. I believe that D35 axle is one of those c-clip types. Looking forward to the videos.

Rest of the trip went great. We finished with helping and headed on it further. got to the little sluice and I tried getting through again. It became clear one of three things was going to happen though, 1) I make it 2) I break something, or 3) I flop. Seeing as 2 were negative, I chose to be denied again... :D

We turned back and went out the old trail through wentworth springs side.

Had a great day.

The GoPro footage is rough and the editor takes some time. Been trying to mess with it during breaks at work since computer here is better, but may need to just bring it home and put it together.

My uncle was going to bring his in too so I can chop them together.
