I have a 83 CJ7 and recently had a shop install a 2.5" lift kit. I also had a fabricator make a customer rear bumper/tire carrier for my Jeep. The bumper is supposed to bolt to the frame in two places, but the shackle hangers are in my way. The exploded view of CJ suspension I found online shows the looped part of the hanger (where the bushing go in) pointed towards the rear, but my hangers look to be installed the opposite direction thus prohibiting me from bolting my bumper to the frame.

Anybody know which direction the rear shakle hangers should be mounted?

The hanger loop goes to the front, just like it is, so nope, It's on there like it should be. Depending on how far off the hole is, you may want to just modify the new hanger so the hole lines up with the spring mount bolt. Then just use a little longer G-8 bolt and sock it in right there.

They are on there the right way, looks like the bumper tabs are wrong.
Here's a pic of mine.

Thanks Old Dog. I think I'll need to oblong the bumper tab holes so they'll line up with the frame holes. So much for my freshly powdercoated bumper.
