Should shackle mounts be welded to the frame while Im putting on YJ spring mounts? Seems like a lot of strain on two bolts. Im confident the bolts wont break, more concerned with strain on the frame around the bolts. What are the cool kids doing?

You could do both if your concerned about the bolts.

If you weld them on I doubt you would be the first person to do that

I am going to continue to use my bolts tho

I ask because my 73 has shackle mounts riveted and welded. I'll probably bolt and weld.

From what I have seen on the later CJs at least, adding a high lift spring puts a lot of stress on the front spring shackle mount. The rears seem to hold up pretty good, but the fronts will break at the rivet clearance hole. I have also seen a number of cracked frames just above the front spring pivot with a high lift spring. As they are not really wear items, welding the mounts would really secure them.
