Shackle reverse bracket ID?
Rollerman
Jeeper
First of many questions & want to say in advance for everything I've learned all ready without even asking.
Since acquiring this 79 CJ7 last week, I'm been going over some of the mechanics deciding what needs attention 1st.
The Jeep has a shackle reverse kit on it...I've read up & can see the merits of the setup as well as the stock design too.
This Jeeps has 35" rubber & I can see there is an interference issues at the back of the front fenders....big surprise.
I've already ordered longer bump stops & will be replacing the worn body mounts with a +1" Daystar kit for a little more room.
So my question...can anyone ID the front shackle reverse bracket?
I'm curious how much work I'll be in for to put this back to a shackle front setup.
The brackets welded on & would take some grinding to remove.
The front springs also appear to have less arch in them than the back...so I'm assuming that I would need new springs in front to match the back lift if I were to change it back.
Also in the second picture there is a bracket behind the steering box.
Is/was there a cross member here at one time that was removed to accommodate this shackle revers kit?
If I knew what I have I might know better how to put it back or if it's a well regarded design.
Thanks....
