I'm getting ready to order new greasable shackle and spring main eye bushings for my 75 CJ5 . I'm looking at the Daystar stuff. I have aftermarket 2 1/2" lift springs that I think maybe Rancho, but I'm not certain.

My question is (maybe dumb) whether the bushing diameter for the aftermarket spring is the same as stock, as the bushing kit description says they are designed for stock. Really don't want to order the wromg thing then have to send it back.

Should be the stock diameter. Make sure to clean out the rust in the spring eyes with a flap sanding wheel or emery cloth.

73CJ - Thanks for the help. :notworthy:

I thought that was probably the case. Just wanted to be sure before I ordered the new stuff.

So, I got my new shackles and spring bushings. Rebuilt my leaf springs. Took them completely apart, sandblasted them, moly coated the inside faces, reassembled them, and painted the outside surfaces. Got the front and rear axles rebuilt. Got my frame straightened and painted and am ready to start bolting stuff back on it.

I took a flapper wheel on a drill motor and cleaned out the the shackle mounts on the frame as best I could, but they're still pretty pitted from rust. How smooth do these need to be inside? I'd rather not replace the mounts, but if I have to, now is the time.

Thanks in advance for the help.
