1978 CJ7.304, t150,D20 w/teralow- twin stick, dana 30/AMC20. 35 sst's on procomp wheels.
I torqued the shackle to 30 ftlbs. The instructions said 25 to 35. I went in the middle. The shackles seem to have a slight bow to them. Is this normal? Should I loosen them ? Looking for safety along with the best ride possible. And to not have premature wearing of the poly bushings.

Do they still have the metal sleeve in the middle of the bushing? If not it easy to over tighten them. They should not have bow.

I like to use a ny-lock nut and just snug it up. I looks like yours are to tight, as mtnwhir said they shouldn't be bowed in.

No, they are 1" greasable bolts.

I'm going to loosen them and just snug them.

meant half inch:)

Use what is known as "Automated" or "Stover" nuts on them. They are the style that the actual nut is deformed slightly for an interference fit on the male threads. Much more reliable than reusing the stock ones or nylocks.
You can just snug them down but they will not loosen.
Ace Hardware usually has them.

Both deformed (stover) and nylok nuts are to be "one time use" nuts. But in this case either would work fine and backing it off a half turn or so to get the bow out should be okay. You need the shoulders to be able to absorb the flex and compress. Nice shackles, Warrior Products?

Looks like you have 3" shackles on a set of 2.5" springs. I had a similar issue, my daughter bought me a set for Christmas a few years back and didn't have the heart to tell her they were wrong so I just put spacers on either side of the bushing.

I had a very bad experience when I ordered some shackles from Warrior.
So don't depend on the correct part being in the box.Two different parts in two different boxes with the same part number.I sent them back and made them myself. When the manufacture does not give dimensions or no the length of a stock shackle that is a major problem to me.:( mike starck

I ordered 4" springs and 1.5" warrior shackles. It will clearly clear 35s. I've installed 2.5 inch springs, I dont see it.. Any other opinions out there? If they are not correct then the manufacturer put the wrong label on the springs.

My bad, your talking width. Maybe, but I had to squeeze them in... Will check on it.

Also, does it really matter what grease is used for poly bushings? I loaded them down with aviation grade white lithium but have yet to lube them. (thru the zerk)

Is anyone running greasable shackles? What grease is best?

That would be a good question to call the bushing manuf. about. I use Lubrathane from Daystar. It's a silicone based grease. Petroleum based greases might not work well over time with polyurethane.

My Poly bushings, I used Mobil 1 Synthetic.....no issues, approaching 1 year

Es335 is right with the synthetic. You can go one step better and use a synthetic or natural based marine grease it resists push out from water better than automotive grease. Just a thought.

Thanks fella's

OP, were your factory shackles in good shape? If So I would like them

Edit: I would like to have them I mean, I don't want to date your shackles.
