Steering Shaft movement.

I took the manual steering system out of my 84 and started installing the power steering system outta my 85. When trying to get the intermediate steering shaft out the shaft in the column moved out some. Maybe an inch. I tapped it back with a rubber mallet. Am I ok?

If I remember correctly, the shaft inside the column tube is two pieces with a slip joint. You should be okay.

Yes, that is a slip joint. I believe its like that for movement of steering componants
