i was looking at my rear shocks today, before beating them off with a hammer, and was wondering if anyone has change the shock mount location to obtain more efficient absorption or is this something better left stock.

I would go with what you have. without knowing what mechanics was used to establish where they are now I don't think I would be able to do any better. If this information is available I would be all about re inventing the wheel.:D

I've seen them tilted in but that affects the damping rate and travel.

Best off leaving the mounts alone and getting some better shocks.
