(poor thing needs a little bit of time and a few kind words)
Upon removal, I noticed that threads on the top stud, drivers side shock support were stripped:(. The nut was threaded on and came off like it was supposed to, but it is a lock nut.

The below photo is what I am looking at:

Question is this; can this stud be replaced, or am I going to have to replace the whole bracket that this is attached (looks welded) to?

I think it will work fine as is, but I dont like galled threads; especially on my shock support! Let me know some thoughts on this please...

One option would be to saw it off, drill & tap, and install a sholder bolt or a stud. Cleaning it up with a die would probably be o.k. BTW, it does look like there are cracks around it.

I think those apparent cracks are just a bad photo angle. I was thinking about just trying to source the mounting stud and going that route. Any suggestions on where that might be found?

This won't be too expensive Dear! That's what I keep saying. Over and over again.

^^I agree^^

at least for the first step. clean the threads up and see what you have left.

I replaced the shocks on mine a month ago. One thing is that I notice yours has the spacer on it. My new shocks came with the spacers because they are larger in diameter than the old shocks, but I didn't use them. I have clearance without them, not a lot, but I don't think they are going to hit anything. But the biggest reason is that the one on the rear passenger side has a different size thread than the other three. It does not appear that it was replaced ever either. The stud itself is the same size however. For that reason I could not get the nut with the shoulder on it to go onto the stud. So I just put the shocks on, and used the same nuts and washers as came off when I removed the old shocks. Has anyone experienced that, and has anyone just not used those spacers that come with the larger shocks?

Somebody messed with the stud. All 4 should be the same.

Keep in mind yours is a different frame (72-75) than TWBTEs 80 frame. :D

I have replaced a couple of mine, but made them on my lathe.
