So, one side severed itself and the other side broke on one hoop -

Took both shocks and mounts off and the front end sits higher and the springs have some arch -

I am driving to town tonight - without shocks - the F250 needs parts - 47 miles so we will take it easy and see how it does...

:patriot:

Sounds like your shocks were to short, that would explain why you have broken mounts.

125 miles - it actually handled better than with shocks...?

All safe and sound - can not wait till I get the shock towers and buying Pro Comp MX6 for the front.

thanks for the well wishes

They are 21" collapsed - 30" extended -

Funny - when I was driving the front end was more steady without shocks - when I had shocks it would go to bouncing all over - so I think weak shocks that were too short -

:)Corn..............9" of travel should be fine. Of course that would also depend on whether the shocks were mounted in the correct window for travel.........meaning if the shock was mounted offset of either full compression or extension...........one end may bottom out.

Does that have Bump stops on the frame to the axle that limit travel?

As I mentioned before the Idea behind the mounting method was OK , but who ever did the Fab work left a little bit to be desired!

I would check to see what amount of travel you have articulation wise under full compression to the Bump stops and then the reverse to full extension............whatever shock & mount you are using needs to fall into that window mount wise.

When I'm playing with suspension here I have 6 / 60 lbs sacks of sand that I load the front frame with to get the suspension to squat down to the stops.

:notworthy:

Yep, it has bump stops - I am jacking her up and measuring - (of course the Ford Parts Giant I ordered the shock mounts from cancelled the order)

Gotta go back to town and just buy em at the dealer - which is a pain cause the Jeep is the only one running - cold weather and diesels...

thanks!
