im in the market for new shocks im currently running "d1ckcepek" which are well past replacement time.

i have less than 2" of lift do mild off roading usually no more than level 7 trails but it spends most its time on the road, what do you guys run and or recommend. im not looking to brake the bank but i need something that will give me a decent ride and yet hold up to the rigors of off road use as well.

as far as drive train is concerned its stock, AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l Dana 300 AMC20 rear Dana 30 front.

thanks everyone

sorry for the l33t speak it kept editing my post its not my fault the name of the shocks may be out of taste for the forums

I have run alot of different shocks. Rancho 5000, Procomp es1000 and procomp es3000, Rancho RS9000 adjustable and now I use the Bilstein 5100. The Bilstein shocks are far above the best riding shock I have used. I will always go with these in the future. My Jeep drives and feels better and is just nice to drive. I never feel like I am being jarred to death like I have in the past. They do cost a bit more but I think the are worth every penny.

I run Doetsch DT3000s on mine and they ride very well. Much better than the Rancho 5000s I had before. I have also had very good luck with the cheap, off the shelf Monroes from the parts store. They tend to be softer than the off-road company's shocks and ride much better. I would have gone that route but couldn't find the length I needed.

X2 - on the Bilstein's, I haven't used them on the CJ but do on my 1ton 4x4. Good ride on and offroad. Had the Rancho RS5000's before and could a bit harsh onroad but offroad were a good shock.

Look for the 'softest' valved shock you can find.
Been run'n Monroe for many yrs.

I am running BDS-5500s that came with the lift kit I installed. They are pretty soft riding although nowhere near car style ride.
