Or should I just go ahead and buy the Weber 38? Got the money, no real reason to put it off.
 
Yes, there should be a +12V DC wire plugged on to that terminal, and there should be a wire somewhere grounding the carb to the manifold.

I haven't heard very many good reviews of new Weber carbs, I've even read somewhere that someone accused them of being made in China, do some research yourself before you spend your money.
 
yeah, i've done a lot of looking, and most seem to be really satisfied with the Weber 38.

I have a little red wire coming out from under the carb (see pic) - is that the choke itself? Because that's where I've got the choke power line from the harness going right now...there isn't another 12v line on the harness :/
