Had my 1980 CJ7 jacked up yesterday and firmed up the drag link and tierod play. Wanted to get a bit more resistance in steering feel on the AGR SUperbox. I started by screwing in the tension screw (hex with a 5/8 locking nut) a recommended 1/8 turn and testing. After about 4 iterations with no result, went back to my reading file.
Found one recommendation to turn in the tension screw until it bottoms, then back out a quarter turn. I did that, and the steering feel was exactly what I wanted. Steering wheel is so stable that now I gotta overhaul my turn signals; there isn't enough "slop" to cause the turn signals to disengage unless the corner is 90 degrees or better.
Ain't it always something?
